Cancellation & Failed Appointment Policy

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancelling and rescheduling of appointments policy.

Ivy house Dental Practice is dedicated to quality care and exceptional service. We respect the importance of your time and work very hard to schedule appointments that accommodate the busy needs of all our patients.
In return, we ask that all our patients make every effort to keep their reserved scheduled dental appointments.
At Ivy house Dental Practice, we understand that appointments may have to be cancelled or rearranged due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you find the need to change your appointment, please follow our Policy for Cancellations:
• 48 hours / 2 Days – For routine private dental treatment as well as Hygienist appointments
Please note, no refund will be given for the Hygienist or private appointment whereby you have failed to attend the appointment or not given us sufficient cancellation notice.

NHS Patients:
Although missed NHS appointments cannot be charged for, we have a very firm policy regarding non-attendance.
Patients who fail to attend two NHS dental appointments will not be offered any further appointments in line with NHS regulations (missed appointments do not have to be consecutive),
Failure to attend is defined as:
• Arriving late for an appointment (15 minutes late or more)
• Not arriving for an appointment
• Not giving 48-hour advance notice of not being able to attend (short notice cancellation)
• Not arriving for an appointment due to not receiving a text reminder

NHS England has the right to ask you to find another dental surgery if you continue to miss appointments.
We have a 2-year cycle, if an existing NHS patient doesn’t attend our dental surgery for a routine check-up within 2 years of their last visit, they will be automatically de-registered from our NHS list.
Should any new NHS patients fail to attend 2 appointments prior to being seen they will be removed from the NHS list.
